Bowling in Paradise Reviving an old tradition here in Puerto Vallarta, Que Lynnda of Gringo Loco Bar, Asaderos Tom, I and others have started a new "all for fun" bowling get together. To borrow a saying from other clubs... "We are a drinking group with a bowling problem". We meet every Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Collage Bowling Alley (at the back of the Collage Night Club) out at the Marina entrance. We had about 12 turn out for our first attempt the past Saturday. Come join us for a couple of hours of good fun. Rentals are cheap and available at the Alley so all you have to do is show up. Remember to bring your own socks. For some photos of the first day, see our 2009 Photogallery Flu Update, May 13, 2009 To date, nothing has changed at Cafe Roma or in our lives. Come on down and party with us. Much of what you hear and read is just not true. We will keep you updated right here on our Website. They say no news is good news. In that case the good news is nothing has changed as of 8:00 AM this morning. April 30, 2009 Yesterday we finally had a visit from the authorities advising us of the new rules. We were told we have to serve food with our drinks. So now we are placing a menu on each table with you drink order. In other words... nothing has changed as we are not a late night bar and close one hour before the 11:00 pm deadline they imposed. These rules are only in place until Monday May 4th. Karaoke tonight at 6:00 PM. Come join the fun! Friday, May 1st, 2009 Friday turned out to be a normal day here in spite of people spreading false rumors that all our bars and restaurants are closed here. There still are no cases reported anywhere else in Mexico other than in Mexico City... far away from Paradise. We are open normal hours and yes we are serving great drinks and yummy food. Our Karaoke night turned into a fun party last night. Come on down! Saturday May 2, 2009 This weekend and the last few days have been all normal. Today the newspaper headlines are all announcing "Back to Normal" and everything in PV is open without restrictions. April 10, 2009 Business has slowed down drastically now that many of the seasonal tourists and residents have left PV for the summmer. We are still doing the Jams and Karokee night and having lots of fun though. In order to supplement our income during this trying time we are now offering Time Share Sales. Please click HERE to see our details. March 28, 2009 This Saturday's Vallarta Scene "board meeting" (meet and greet) at Cafe Roma was well attended and we had a full house. It was great to see all the regulars and meet many new people again. The sad part is many are headed back North for the summer season and we will only meet with them virtually on the message board 'till this fall. Thanks to all that came and for all the support through out the season. March 22, 2009 We're in the News again! A customer just brought in the Official On-Board Magazine of USA 3000 Airlines. March 14, 2009 Our Open Mic Music Jams and Karaoke evenings are still going strong with a packed house most nights. Things have slowed enough though that we actually have time to talk to our customers again. I think half of Manitoba and most of my home town came to visit us in February and now in March. Many new friends have also remembered us and have come back to visit. It's always good to see all our friends and family again. Everyone is welcome of course. Come join the party and meet many of the colorful characters that live down here and many who come to visit. February 16, 2009 YELAPA AUTHOR PUBLISHES NEW NOVEL American writer Robert Hardin announces the publication of Worst Cases, the latest book in his David Armstrong series. This is Hardin’s fourth novel since moving to Yelapa, Mexico in January 2005. In Worst Cases, criminal attorney David Armstrong takes on the causes of two unsavory clients. The murder trial of one of those clients taxes David’s abilities as few others have. And the representation of the other before the United States Supreme Court creates the most serious ethical conflict of his career. Felicia Bates-Baxter, California’s senior U.S. Senator and David’s long time lover, relieved that the American government is finally rid of the disgraceful George W. Bush, spends more time than usual in her home district and helps David through his work crisis. Readers have praised Robert Hardin’s previous novels in reviews on Amazon.com. Ana, Baltimore Maryland: “Federal Offense is a tightly plotted courtroom thriller with fully realized characters, told by a witty and profound protagonist.” PP, Santa Monica, California: “Imperfect Crimes is filled with plot twists that will thrill any courtroom drama fan.” JWV, Chicago, Illinois: “In Paradise Marred Hardin’s characters and their relationships continue to develop as they have throughout the series.” All of these books, including Worst Cases, are available at amazon.com, Barnes & Nobles, and other bookstores in the U.S. and Canada. They will also soon be available in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at NV Bookstores and A Page in the Sun on Olas Altas. Former northern California residents Robert Hardin and his wife, Kathryn, along with their two black cats, live year round in a beach house in Yelapa, a small village between Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrientes accessible only by boat. Anyone wishing to know more about the author may access his web page at http://outskirtspress.com/worst cases or his email at croberthardin@gmail.com. The first book signing of Worst Cases will be held at Café Roma in Puerto Vallarta on Saturday, February 21st from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. right after the weekly Kids Pizza Party. February 11, 2009 We had a great party with the Pizza Cruisers from PMQ Magazine! Yes we had a lot of red shirts. All 61 were in red except one guy who had a black sleeveless T. Steve and Danny, who play here every Wednesday entertained them with light rock for first hour and a half then Jamie led the Karaoke along with regulars Phil and Babs helping out till we got them going. They sang their hearts out till it was time to go back to the Cruise Ship at 9:00 PM. We made a whole bunch of new friends who we hope will come back to see us soon. In addition, we made a bunch more pesos for the Kids from their generosity. Thank you Pizza Cruisers! January 31, 2009 A special thanks to all our wonderful customers for making our home, your home. January 27, 2009 Cowboy Jack is back singing his great, non stop country music for the next 7 weeks. Jack has been playing with me since I started playing music in Vallarta. In the interest of fairness, I of course will not compete but will oversee the event to ensure nobody cheats. Proceeds? Of course... to the Kids at the Dump. Update It was a blast!
